Check the simple things first.
In short: is your heated vest not working? The cause is usually simple. The power bank is flat or switched off, the plug is not pushed in fully, or the button was not held long enough. Work through the checks below. Still no heat? Then contact us: every Gløde product has a 2-year warranty.

This article is by Gløde and covers our own products. For other brands, check the manual.
Never open a garment, cut into it, solder or bypass anything. Every check on this page is done from the outside, with the plug, the button and the power bank.
Find your symptom
| What you notice | Check first | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing heats | Power bank charged and switched on, plug fully in | Hold the button for about 3 seconds |
| It heats, then stops | The power bank has switched itself off | Use the Gløde power bank |
| Only the front or the back is warm | Høgge and Øney control front and back separately | Switch on both |
| Warm for a shorter time than before | Heat level and outside temperature | Keep the power bank in an inner pocket |
| One glove stays cold | Battery level indicator on that glove | Charge both batteries, check both plugs |
| No heat after washing | Is everything completely dry? | Let it air-dry fully, then reconnect |
Vest, fleece, parka or insert: five checks
1. Is the power bank charged and switched on?
Charge the power bank fully first. One that has been in a drawer since last winter is often empty. Some power banks also need a press on their own button before they supply power.
2. Is the plug pushed in fully?
A plug that sits halfway gives no power. The vests connect with USB-A, the Pølar parka with USB-C. Unplug, and push the plug back in firmly.
3. Did you hold the button?
Hold the button for about 3 seconds to switch the heating on. The Høgge and the Øney control front and back separately, so check both.
4. Try another power bank or cable
Connect a second power bank if you have one. If the garment heats now, the first power bank is the cause. Does the power bank not charge? Try another charging cable.
5. Does the power bank switch off by itself?
Some power banks stop when a device draws little current. Gløde power banks are made for Gløde clothing. We cannot promise that a power bank from another brand works. See our power bank comparison for heated clothing.
Gloves: check both batteries
The Øven heated gloves have a battery for each glove. One empty battery means one cold hand.
- Look at the battery level indicator on each glove.
- Charge both batteries via USB-C until they are full.
- Connect both plugs. Push each battery plug fully into its glove.
- Swap the batteries between left and right. If the cold moves along, the battery is the cause. If the same glove stays cold, contact us.
After washing: dry first
Reconnect the power bank or the batteries only when the garment is completely dry. Let it air-dry, without a tumble dryer. The full steps are in how to wash heated clothing.
In the cold: less runtime is normal
Batteries deliver less in frost. Keep the power bank in an inner pocket and start with a full charge. These runtimes are normal:
- Vests: about 3–6 hours on 10,000 mAh, about 6–12 hours on 20,000 mAh.
- Pølar parka: about 1.5–3 hours on 10,000 mAh, about 3–6 hours on 20,000 mAh.
- Øven gloves: about 2 to 5 hours.
The highest level gives the shortest time.
What not to do
- Do not open seams or the lining.
- Do not cut, solder or bypass cables or plugs.
- Do not use a damaged or swollen power bank.
- Do not connect a garment that is still damp.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my heated vest not heating up?
Usually because the power bank is empty or switched off, the plug is not pushed in fully, or the button was not held for about 3 seconds. Check those three first.
Why is my heated jacket not working with my power bank?
Some power banks stop when a device draws little current, and the heating then stops too. Gløde power banks are made for Gløde clothing. We cannot promise that a power bank from another brand works.
How long do I hold the button?
Hold it for about 3 seconds to switch the heating on. A short tap is not enough. On the Høgge and the Øney, front and back are controlled separately, so switch on both.
Why is one heated glove not working?
Each Øven glove has its own battery. Look at the battery level indicator, charge both batteries via USB-C and push both plugs in fully. Then swap the batteries: if the cold moves to the other hand, the battery is the cause.
My heated clothing does not work after washing. What now?
Disconnect the power bank or batteries and let the garment air-dry completely. Reconnect only when it is fully dry. Still no heat? Contact Gløde.
Is a fault covered by the warranty?
Every Gløde product has a 2-year warranty. Report the fault through the repair and warranty page and tell us which product you have and which checks you did. Do not open or repair the garment yourself.
