Heated Wraps, Capes and Ponchos
A heated wrap goes around your shoulders like a shawl or a short cape and keeps your neck and shoulders warm. Gløde's own heated wrap is not available yet. This guide explains the types, from power-bank wraps and heated ponchos to a plain wool shawl, and what to check.

Which heated wrap suits you?
| Type | Good for | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Power-bank (USB) wrap or cape | Warm shoulders anywhere: the reading chair, the desk, the garden bench | The power bank rides in a pocket; check how the cable runs to it |
| Heated poncho or wearable blanket with sleeves or a hood | Covering more of you on the sofa or in the home office | Bulkier. See our wearable heated blanket comparison and heated blankets |
| Plug-in heated throw worn as a wrap | A long evening in one chair near a socket | The cable keeps you in one spot |
| Heated scarf or stole | A warm neck under your coat, outside | Covers less of your shoulders. See heated scarves and neck warmers |
| Thick wool or fleece wrap | No charging, no cable, nothing to remove before washing | Only keeps in the warmth you make yourself |
What to look for
- Where the heat sits: at the neck, across the shoulders or down the upper back. Pick the zone where you feel the cold first.
- A closure that holds: a button, magnet or press stud keeps the wrap in place when you reach for a cup or type.
- Fabric and feel: fleece, knit or plush. Choose one you would happily wear switched off.
- Size and reach: many are one size. Check the length and how far it falls over your arms and back.
- Power and controls: a pocket for the power bank, a tidy cable route and a button you can reach while wearing it. Many have several heat levels.
- Washing: check that the cable and controller come out, so the wrap itself can be washed. Follow the care label.
Warm when you get up from the chair
A wrap is made for sitting. To head outside with your arms free, a heated vest is what Gløde does sell.
- Heated vests for women: wear one over a jumper at home or under your coat outside. The warmth sits at the back, belly and neck.
- Høgge² heated vest: five heating zones and three heat levels, sold with a small or large power bank.
- Always cold in the office? Ideas for a chilly desk.

Frequently asked questions
Heated wrap, cape or poncho: what is the difference?
A wrap or shawl sits on your shoulders and leaves your arms free. A cape usually closes at the front and falls a little lower. A poncho goes over your head and covers more, sometimes with sleeves or a hood.
Can I wear a heated wrap outside?
A power-bank wrap goes wherever you go: the terrace, the sideline or the campsite. Our guides on staying warm watching football and heated clothing for camping cover the rest of your layers.
How do I use a heated wrap with care?
Follow the manual. Take the power bank out before washing, and do not fall asleep with the wrap switched on unless the maker says you may. Before each winter, check the cable and connector for wear or damage.
Do I need heat, or will a wool wrap do?
For an hour with a book, a thick wool or fleece wrap is often enough. If you sit still for long in a cold room or outside, added heat on your shoulders makes the difference.
