Warmth under your riding jacket.
Heated motorcycle clothing for short rides, commutes and breaks
Heated motorcycle clothing does not have to be wired to the bike. A Gløde heated vest or the Øney insert is a warm layer under your own motorcycle jacket, powered by a power bank. It suits short rides, the commute and the coffee stop. It is not protective gear, and we say so plainly.
Why you get cold on a bike
Standing still at 8 °C is fresh. At 60 mph the same air rushes past and carries your body heat away far faster than you can make it. That is wind chill. Your jacket stops the wind, but you sit still behind the bars and produce little heat of your own. So the answer has two parts: block the wind, then add heat close to the body.
Where a heated layer fits
The commute
Twenty to forty minutes each way, often before sunrise. A heated vest on the middle level keeps your core comfortable from door to door.
Short rides
An hour or two on back roads on a bright, cold day. With heat on your chest and back, you stop because you want to, not because you are cold.
Breaks and stops
At the café, the petrol station or the ferry queue you cool down quickly. The vest keeps working while the bike stands.
Riding pillion
A passenger moves even less than the rider. A heated vest under the jacket makes the back seat a good deal more pleasant.
How to wear it
- Close to the body. Thin base layer, then the vest, then your motorcycle jacket.
- Hood off. The Høgge hood is detachable. Take it off so nothing bunches under your collar.
- Set the heat at standstill. Choose your level before you zip up and set off. Front and back are controlled separately.
- Your own layer, heated. The Øney attaches inside the jacket or mid-layer you already ride in, with adhesive Velcro strips. No sewing.
- Enough power. The 20,000 mAh power bank gives a vest about 6–12 hours of warmth, depending on the level.
- Warm off the bike too. No cable to the bike, so the heat comes with you into the paddock or the car park.
What it is not
Not protective gear
A heated vest has no armour and no abrasion protection. It goes under a proper motorcycle jacket, never instead of one.
Not wired to the bike
Gløde clothing runs on a 5 V power bank, not on the 12 V system of your bike. For all-day touring at motorway speed, riders often choose 12 V gear. Gløde does not sell that type.
Not motorcycle gloves
Our Øven heated gloves have no protectors and no motorcycle certification. They are for the walk and the stops, not for riding.
Warm hands on the bars
Our glove guide explains 12 V motorcycle gloves as a type: best heated gloves. Or warm the bars themselves: heated grips for bike and motorcycle.
Warm layers for riders
Three heat levels up to 50 °C, low-voltage 5 V USB, CE marked.

Frequently asked questions
Can I wear a heated vest under a motorcycle jacket?
Yes. A Gløde heated vest works as a mid-layer: over a thin base layer and under your own motorcycle jacket. Take the detachable hood off first. The vest adds warmth only. It has no armour and is not protective gear.
How long does a heated vest stay warm on a ride?
With the small 10,000 mAh power bank a Gløde vest gives about 3–6 hours of warmth, with the large 20,000 mAh power bank about 6–12 hours. The highest level uses the most power, so count on the shorter figure there.
Can I ride a motorcycle in Gløde heated gloves?
No. Øven gloves are winter gloves without protectors and without motorcycle certification. Use them for the walk and the stops. For riding, wear proper motorcycle gloves. Heated grips and 12 V motorcycle gloves are the usual types for warm hands on the bars.
Does the vest plug into my motorcycle?
No. Gløde clothing runs on a 5 V USB power bank that you carry with you. It is not connected to the 12 V system of the bike, so there is nothing to wire up, and the warmth comes with you when you step off.
